The General Education Unit invites applications for a faculty المنصب at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer rank. Candidates should have a Master's degree (no EdDs/PhDs) in a relevant science or engineering discipline, together with a minimum of five years of related teaching experience at a recognized, top-tier institution. Experience teaching in the UAE as well as experience in materials development, course coordination, and assessment development are also valued.
Required ExperienceThe post holder will teach the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course, which highlights science and engineering approaches to interdisciplinary, real world applications, especially addressing Grand Challenge problems facing humanity. The course introduces aspects of problem solving, from the formulation of questions and problems to the testing of hypotheses and trial solutions. Students work collaboratively on project based activities as they discuss ethical issues; social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability; and the technicalities of Grand Challenges. There is no expectation that independent research will be conducted, although an interest in developing and applying recent research will be an advantage.
