Department of Arabic and Translation Studies, American University of Sharjah invites applications for a faculty المنصب at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026, subject to budgetary approval.

Required qualifications include:

• PhD in Arabic Studies, Arabic Literature, or allied areas.
• Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Willingness and ability to teach entry-level Arabic heritage classes.
• Ability to offer courses on the history, culture, and society of the الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
• Experience integrating new technologies in teaching and research.
• Strong scholarly record or potential, and relevant teaching experience.
• Familiarity with western models of higher education.

Preferred qualifications:

• Interests in course and program design/development.
• Ability to teach courses in both Arabic and English.
• UAE nationals are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Teach entry-level Arabic heritage classes and other courses as assigned.
• Develop and deliver courses on UAE history, culture, and society.
• Integrate new technologies into teaching and research.
• Participate in course and program design/development.
• Produce scholarly research and engage in academic service.
