Salary: Calculated per day

Working hours/days: 9-10 hrs. per day and 6 days a week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Carpenter to join our yacht crew as a dayworker. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry and joinery expertise, preferably within the yacht or marine industry, and will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, fabricating, and finishing interior and exterior woodwork to a high, finish-level standard appropriate for luxury yachts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform adjustments and repairs on doors, hinges, cabinets, drawers, and other interior joinery.
  • Carry out interior joinery adjustments, refinishing, and restoration to maintain a high-quality appearance.
  • Execute exterior teak repairs, including touch-ups, caulking, sanding, and varnishing.
  • Work with various wood types, including plywood, teak, and other fine woods used in yacht interiors and exteriors.
  • Fabricate and install wood components as required by the vessel’s maintenance or refit program.
  • Cut, shape, assemble, and install wood components using hand tools and power tools.
  • Replace and repair veneer, including filling wood holes, cracks, and damaged areas.
  • Perform sanding, polishing, staining, painting, sealing, and varnishing to achieve professional finishes.
  • Match colors and finishes on repaired wood parts to ensure seamless integration with existing interiors.
  • Treat, glue, and protect wood surfaces using marine-grade products and adhesives.
  • Maintain carpentry tools, materials, and workspaces in safe and operational condition.
  • Work collaboratively with deck, interior, and engineering teams as required.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven carpentry experience, ideally in yacht or marine environments, including interior and exterior woodworking, repairs, and brightwork.
  • Shipyard carpentry or boatbuilding background is highly valued.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce finish-level woodworking and meticulous fit and finish.
  • Proficient in cutting, shaping, joining, and finishing wood using various tools and techniques.
  • Skilled in veneer replacement, wood repair, and cosmetic restoration.
  • Experienced in sanding, polishing, painting, staining, sealing, caulking, and varnishing.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet maintenance deadlines.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and best practices for woodworking operations.
  • Previous experience on luxury yachts or commercial vessels.
  • Familiarity with marine-grade materials, finishes, and adhesives.
  • Ability to support refit periods, shipyard stays, and custom carpentry projects.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and professional attitude in a guest-oriented environment.
