Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) is responsible for supervising the development of functional and detailed mechanical designs for building services projects. The role ensures all deliverables comply with Stantec's Quality Standards, client expectations, and Statutory Authority requirements. The المنصب includes leading design delivery, managing engineering staff, coordinating across disciplines, and supporting project success from concept to construction.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of Mechanical (HVAC) design delivery on assigned projects.
  • Lead, manage, and take full ownership of the Mechanical Design team to ensure accurate, high quality, and timely project deliverables.
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of all building services disciplines and how they interface with mechanical systems.
  • Direct and mentor engineering staff with clear, detail oriented instructions and strong leadership presence.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with all project disciplines and stakeholders on a daily basis.
  • When required, coordinate with teams across Stantec's global offices.
  • Liaise directly with Clients, Statutory Authorities, and other third parties, representing the discipline professionally.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of project budgeting requirements and support project or bid development as needed.
  • Show ownership for team quality, project timelines, and successful delivery outcomes.
  • Maintain all project documentation in full compliance with Stantec systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Anticipate challenges and project risks, recommending appropriate mitigation measures and communicating them internally to the Commercial Team, and externally to Clients/Client Representatives where necessary.
  • Mentor junior and mid level engineers to develop technical proficiency and design competency.
  • Demonstrate the ability to act as a discipline-specific Senior Design Engineer as defined by Stantec procedures.
Qualifications
  • A discipline specific Mechanical Building Services Engineer with demonstrable career progression and proven leadership of design teams.
  • 12+ years of post graduate experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Middle East, preferably within the UAE.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of delivering clear, concise, and detailed directions to engineering staff.
  • Full understanding of standard industry software relevant to HVAC and building services design.
  • Experience working with international consultants.
  • Experience working within a team environment of 10+ personnel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
Interfaces & Communications
  • Role resides within the Built Environment Design Division.
  • Reports to the Head of Discipline on internal matters.
  • Reports to the Project Director/Project Manager for project-specific matters.
